Advanced Nitrogen Plasma Technology
NeoGen Plasma technology uses the process of converting nitrogen gas into pure nitrogen plasma. Plasma is a source of thermal energy which permeates the skin in a uniform manner, having a profound effect on and beneath the skin achieving outstanding results.
The heat directed onto the skin surface causes thermal disruption to the structure of the skin, penetrating deep into the skin until it reaches the dermis. The dermis is the thick protective layer of skin made up of fibrous and elastic tissue which provides the strength, flexibility, and protection to the whole skin. The thermal energy is conducted via the water in the skin, the more hydrated the skin is, the deeper the energy penetrates. The hydration of the skin along with the energy setting used dictates how deep the treatment can penetrate to achieve the desired result.
The NeoGen has energy levels from 0.5 to 4 joules which when combined with the number of passes (number of times the treatment is delivered in one area), determines the depth of the treatment and therefore the levels of tightening, resurfacing and regeneration. The procedure is one of simplicity using natural resources. NeoGen treatments modify the whole skin architecture so the skin functionality is improved leading to healthier and younger looking skin.
The thermal energy transfers heat directly to the targeted area, which immediately causes the tissue to contract as a result of the heating of the dermal collagen. The heat also causes thermal disruption of the elastin, and stimulation of the fibroblasts, creating a wound-healing effect. The collagen then renews and the damaged dermis begins to reduce/heal.
The procedure is non ablative and does not achieve these effects with the use of harsh skin vaporization, but instead stimulates the skin to renew and regenerate. By heating the skin in this way, the heated layer of epidermis becomes desiccated (dried out) and acts as a natural barrier to protect the treated area from infection etc. – as long as this happens in conjunction with the correct post treatment self-care. The natural barrier also encourages healing and eventually sheds.
The treatment promotes collagen production causes the skin to tighten with a smoother and younger looking complexion. These effects will continue to develop for up to a year after the treatment.
The process always regenerates and resurfaces the skin regardless of what other skin condition or complaint you might want treated. In order for the technology to treat other indications or complaints your provider will always carry out a client/patient consultation. The system has variable functions such as energy levels and pulse rate that allow the different indications, skin types and areas of the body to be treated.
What makes the NeoGen Plasma regeneration treatments unique?
Plasma is the fourth state of matter. Plasma is similar to a gas but with many of its atoms broken into electrically charged particles, both negatively-charged electrons and positively-charged ions.
Examples of plasma include lightning, the Aurora Borealis and fluorescent tube lamps.
The four Stages of matter
Creating the Perfect Environment for Product Penetration
The oxygen, carbon and hydrogen atoms are purged from the skin by the nitrogen plasma.
Nitrogen Plasma irradiation opens a temporary track to improve absorption of topical drugs and cosmeceuticals.
These channels are open for 24 hours post
Opening of the channels works best at low energy irradiation 0.5-0.7 Joules Skin actively ‘seeking’ water / hydration and will readily absorb topicals
Topicals applied to skin post plasma treatment have 70% better absorption rate than without plasma.
Topicals should have a low molecular weight.
How does the NeoGen Plasma skin treatment work?
NeoGen uses ultra-high radio frequency to ionize medical grade nitrogen gas from a pressurised cylinder, creating nitrogen plasma in the nozzle, which delivers a controlled pulse of plasma thermal energy. The temperature on the surface of the skin ranges from 70 to 165 degrees Celsius, and the pulse duration is 15 milliseconds. The pressurised pulse of nitrogen plasma purges oxygen from the treatment area, preventing charring of the skin. The level of energy delivered to the skin determines the depth of penetration, and associated levels of tightening, resurfacing and regeneration effects.
Skin Resurfacing
The treated stratum corneum and epidermal layers always remain intact, acting as an insulator during treatment and a natural biological dressing post treatment. This natural barrier provides optimal healing conditions and significantly reduces the risk of infections and complications. A new epidermis is formed at the Line of Cleavage between the Zone of Thermal Damage (ZTD) and the Zone of Thermal Modification (ZTM). At higher energy settings the epidermis and upper dermis are shed once the new epidermis has formed after 3 to 5 days. At lower energy settings the top 5 to 6 cells of the stratum corneum are shed after 1 to 2 days.
Skin Regeneration
Unlike other technologies, the whole of the skin’s surface and architecture is treated, leaving no islands of untreated skin. Regeneration of the reticular architecture of the upper dermis can be achieved using either a single high-energy or multiple low-energy treatments.
Cascade of neo-collagenization has been stimulated through thermal disruption of dermal solar elastosis, along with neovascularization, and fibroblasts from the deeper dermis migrate to restore the skin to healthier function and appearance. Long-term studies show a continuing neocollagenesis producing sustainable improvements up to a year following treatment.
A Truly Unique Healing Process
No char formation. The stratum corneum and epidermal layers remain intact.
This unique tissue response acts as an insulator during treatment and then provides a unique biological dressing which supports the natural healing process of skin regeneration.
A response completely different from that seen with light-based treatments or ablative lasers.
Regeneration of the reticular architecture of the upper dermis using either single high-energy or repeat low-energy treatments. A line of cleavage quickly forms after treatment.
A thigh-energy settings the epidermis and upper dermis are shed.
At low-energy settings the top 5–6 cells of the stratum corneum are shed.
Ongoing neocollagenesis further supports demonstrative and ongoing wrinkle improvement.
There have been no reports of scarring or hypopigmentation to date.
Neo-vascularization occurs and fibroblasts from the deeper dermis migrate to restore the skin to healthier function and appearance.
Evidence indicates pulse-stacking does not cause the morbidity associated with other tech
From superficial epidermal to deeper dermal treatment yields the therapeutic results patients and physicians desire with an optimized recovery profile.
Long-term clinical studies show a continuing regenerative process producing improvements up to a year post treatment.
